Legal information — Yo-kai Watch Dream update service (fan project)

Version 2026-10-19

Model U. The service also covers the Yo-kai Watch Model U update (.yki). The request file then has the extension .ucyx (encrypted like .dcyx) and the bot returns a modified .yki. Everything above applies in the same way. Model U replacement sounds may have a different length from the original; the update is rebuilt accordingly, within a maximum total size.

Unofficial, free, non-profit fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Level-5, Bandai or Discord. “Yo-kai Watch” and the other names, logos and trademarks mentioned belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the products concerned.

1. Legal notice

Publisher and editor: Calliste — contact: [email protected].

Website host: Calliste. Where the publisher is an individual who wishes to remain anonymous, their identity is provided to the host, who keeps it in accordance with Article 6 of French Law no. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 (LCEN).

Bot hosting: Calliste.

Nature of the service: free community service, no advertising, non-profit, provided on Discord. No availability guarantee.

2. Terms of use

2.1 Purpose. The service lets you prepare, on a website, a request to modify the sounds of an update for the “Yo-kai Watch Dream” toy watch (an encrypted .dcyx file), then send it to the Discord bot, which privately returns a modified version of the update to the requester. It also lets users suggest Yo-kai names (suggestions).

2.2 Access. The service is reserved for people aged 15 or over, or with their legal guardian’s consent, who have a Discord account and comply with Discord’s terms. Acceptance of these terms is requested on the website and in Discord (“I have read and accept” button) before any use.

2.3 Your commitments. You agree to:

2.4 Name suggestions. By suggesting a name you grant the publisher, free of charge and without time limit, a non-exclusive right to use, adapt and publish that name (and its comment) within the project, with no obligation to include it or credit you. You warrant that it does not infringe third-party rights.

2.5 Risks and warnings. Modifying the internal software of an electronic toy is at your own risk: a modified update may degrade or brick the watch, void the manufacturer’s warranty or cause unexpected behaviour (e.g. sounds that are too loud). Keep a backup of the original update. Supervise use by children.

2.6 No warranty; liability. The service is provided “as is”, with no warranty of result or availability. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage or for the use made of generated files. These limits do not apply in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, nor do they remove consumers’ mandatory rights.

2.7 Moderation. The publisher may suspend or block access (bot moderation command) for breach of these terms, unlawful content or repeat offences after a report.

2.8 Intellectual property. Official updates, sounds, trademarks and third-party software remain the property of their owners; no right in them is granted to you. The service’s source code is published under the licence stated in its repository.

2.9 Changes. These terms may change; their version is shown at the top of this document and checked by the service. A new acceptance is requested when the version changes.

2.10 Governing law. French law. Disputes are first sought to be settled amicably (contact below); otherwise the competent courts are those determined by applicable legal rules, including consumer-protection rules.

3. Privacy policy (GDPR)

3.1 Controller: Calliste — contact: [email protected].

3.2 On the website. The files you load (update, sounds) are read and processed only in your browser: they are not sent to the site (they leave your computer only if you attach them to the bot yourself with /build). The site uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It may store simple preferences (language) in your browser’s local storage; you can erase them at any time by clearing the site’s data. The site host may keep technical logs (IP address) under its own policy.

3.3 On Discord (bot). Data processed, purposes, legal bases and retention:

Not stored: imported sounds, starting updates sent with /build, generated updates and request files are processed in memory only and are not saved by the bot. Note that attachments sent on Discord are kept by Discord under its own policy.

3.4 Recipients and transfers. Only the publisher accesses bot data. Discord Inc. (United States) hosts the messages and files exchanged, under its own terms and transfer safeguards. The bot’s hosting provider acts as a technical processor.

3.5 Security. Request files are encrypted (RSA-OAEP 3072-bit and AES-256-GCM): only the bot holds the private key. Access to data is restricted to the publisher.

3.6 Your rights. Access and portability: /my-data command (CSV export). Erasure: /delete-my-data command (history and consent deleted; suggestions anonymised). Rectification: submit a corrected suggestion. Objection, restriction, withdrawal of consent: write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority (in France, the CNIL — www.cnil.fr).

3.7 Minors. The service is not intended for under-15s without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.

4. Copyright, trademarks and content reports

The publisher respects third-party rights. If you are a rights holder (or their representative) and believe content or a use of the service infringes your rights, or if you see unlawful content, write to [email protected] stating: (1) your identity and contact details; (2) a precise description of the work or right concerned; (3) the exact location of the contested content or use; (4) the grounds of the request (legal provision, disputed fact); (5) for a copyright notice, a good-faith statement that the information is accurate, under your responsibility (Article 6-I-5 LCEN; for US rights holders, 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)).

The publisher handles complete notices promptly, may remove or disable the contested content, suspend the users concerned, and informs the people affected. Anyone concerned may send a reasoned counter-notice to the same address. Users who repeatedly infringe are excluded from the service.

No official update is made available to the public: the service only returns a file to the person requesting it, based on an update they declare they lawfully hold.
